Luego de varios idas y vueltas, finalmente Eduardo Salvio no renovó su contrato en Boca, que finalizaba el 30 de junio, y dejará de vestir la camiseta azul y oro. Su próximo destino futbolístico será Pumas de la UNAM, pero antes de armar las valijas rumbo a México, el Toto se despidió del club y los hinchas con un emotivo posteo en sus redes sociales.
A través de su cuenta de Instagram, el atacante dio las gracias por el apoyo a todo el pueblo bostero e hizo un balance sobre su paso por el Xeneize, al que llegó en julio de 2019: "Les quiero agradecer a todos los hinchas de Boca por estos 3 años hermosos que viví junto a todos ustedes, fueron 4 títulos, partidos, goles y momentos que nunca voy a olvidar".
En el mismo escrito, Salvio dejó en claro que seguirá pendiente de Boca, más allá de los miles de kilómetros de distancia que lo separarán de La Bombonera: "Hoy me toca partir pero acá van a tener un hincha más que va a alentar al equipo con todas sus fuerzas".

<b>Por qué no renovó</b>
El jueves fue el último día de contrato oficial del Toto, que deja el Xeneize tras largas negociaciones con el Consejo de Fútbol: el ex futbolista de Lanús y Benfica, entre otros, tenía el borrador entregado por el club para renovar por 18 meses, con la chance de prolongarlo de manera automática en caso de que la actual dirigencia se imponga en las elecciones.
El gran inconveniente es que se incluyó una considerable reducción de su salario. Cuando Salvio entregó una contraoferta por considerar que el primer ofrecimiento había sido bajo, desde el Consejo le respondieron que no se moverían de los valores iniciales. Por eso la decisión final estaba en las manos del Toto, que llegando al cierre del fin de semana tomó la decisión de ponerle punto final a su estadía en Boca.
